TRUE LEADERSHIP
Prepare Now, Prosper Forever
SM

Learning to read and write prepares us for a lifetime of personal discovery and pleasure. It gets us into the game, to make of our lives what we will. Today, literacy is recognized by every educated human being as an essential human skill. It was not always so.

As recently as a mere fifty years ago, many if not most reasonable and otherwise well educated people still argued that it would little serve human or social purpose to teach “book learning” to the common social classes or to the more remote groups of humanity.

That excluded most of us—manual laborers, housekeepers (women and servants), tribal and agricultural peoples and in general anyone not directly responsible for the practice of or education in political, religious or commercial activities—from the basic tools of what it now means to fully participate in human society.

Today, similarly reasonable people argue—in equal ignorance but perhaps with more subtlety—that leadership skills are unnecessary for all but the more highly educated and professionally ambitious. Not only is that false, the thinking behind it is every bit as crippling and dangerous to the world as illiteracy.

We know that now from our ongoing sufferings of war and human violence.

We know that now from the massive, horrific failures of nations, faith communities and corporations over the centuries and continuing unabated into recent decades.

We know that now from the inability of incredible scientific discovery and technological improvements in our lives to make any substantive difference in the quality of our human relationships.

But until we teach differently we can expect more of the same ongoing human tragedy and hollow results.

Fortunately, better knowledge is entering in. Recent research and discoveries in the biological and social sciences along with great insights from new findings and further sifting of religious writings and archeological data leave no doubt about what to teach—or even how to teach it.

Better still, we have learned that there is not that much to learn. It’s more a matter of remembering who and all that you are, and changing your mind—not easy, but very doable. In fact, once you understand the alternatives and what is at stake, your only choice will be to move forward.

The new teaching is True Leadership. The skills you will learn are the new three R’s: Risk, Relationship and Responsibility. Read this, share this, live this; there is no turning back.
